ACCENTS HOME FURNITURE has been in business for two-and-a-half years and we opened Voelkel London, Canada’s first Voelkel location, in January. Voelkel is a Polish furniture company just being introduced to the North American market. The brand features a wide range of furnishings, accessories and upholstery, and is known for its design focus and emphasis on function and space-saving features.

WE LAUNCHED THESE businesses because we recognized a need in London for quality furniture at affordable prices. There were high-end retailers and big-box outlets, but we felt there was no in-between. Accents is aimed at families owning their second home, or first-time homeowners wanting to upgrade their furniture quality with a personal touch. There’s also lots of selection and style for people who are downsizing. Voelkel is a highly innovative brand and appeals to just about anybody wanting to create a unique and stylish interior.

WE PROCESS BOTH credit and debit cards in-store, but we also do a lot of payment processing over the phone—mostly for custom orders. Clients will usually pay 50% up front in-store, then if they want delivery, instead of having them come back to the store we’ll take their payment information over the phone.

INITIALLY, WE WERE with another payment processing provider, but in 2017, we had Zomaron come in a take a look at our numbers and what we were spending. They were able to provide us a better deal than we were getting, with the added benefit of being a local business in the community that provided personalized, hands-on service.

ONE OF THE first things we noticed is how much faster Zomaron’s equipment is in terms of processing time. There’s less of a wait, and the technology is very user-friendly in terms of producing batch statements and processing returns. We love it.

ZOMARON HAS ALSO been more than happy to help out with our PCI [Payment Card Industry] compliance, which was something our previous processor never did. It’s a task that is somewhat confusing and daunting, but Zomaron has been there every step of the way, answering questions and coming into the store to help out. The personalized service we’ve been able to get with Zomaron has been a breath of fresh air.

THERE’S A TRUE commitment from Zomaron to other businesses in the community. They care about how things are going and they want to understand the details of your particular business. They honestly care about the individual business owner, and they want to help however they can.

Retail businesses present unique challenges that only experienced payment processors can accommodate.
