SKATING HAS ALWAYS been a way of life for our family, and the business of sharpening and servicing skates dates all the way back to 1988. But in February of 2017, we made a big jump—we took the business out of a home location and opened a retail store in London.

OUR VISION FOR Moir’s is more than just a shop—it’s a place for skaters and coaches to hang out, catch-up and continue building the community that we’ve been so proud to be a part of for over three decades. We have been extremely happy with the way the business has progressed. We’ve more than surpassed our first-year goals, and now the job is to build on that growth and momentum.

OUR FIRST INVOLVEMENT with Zomaron dates back to before we opened our retail store. Scott and Tessa (Virtue) were involved in helping to host an annual charity golf tournament, and they needed a way to process transactions at the event. Zomaron stepped up and formed a working partnership, helping to process payments for the tournament—and participating, too! It’s a great relationship that has grown since then.

IN TODAY’S RETAIL environment, it’s extremely important that you meet the payment processing expectations of your customers. People simply don’t carry cash anymore, so having reliable and convenient technology and systems in place to handle any and all debit and credit transactions is a fundamental part of business. It’s simply what people feel most comfortable using.

WE RECENTLY UPGRADED our payment processing to the Poynt Smart Terminal from Zomaron. Not only is it a great looking systems that adds improved functionality and style to payment transactions in the shop, the reporting and inventory features are a real operational plus for us.

THE ABILITY OF the Poynt Smart Terminal to track inventory is a big benefit. Like a lot of retail operations, the skating industry has a substantial seasonal curve—at certain times of the year we’ll experience a much higher volume of sales than at other times. Poynt’s ability to tell us what is moving and what isn’t, plus helping us reference back to previous inventory levels at any given time of year, will give us a much better grasp of inventory control and the cash flow.

AT EACH JUNCTURE in our business, from setting up shop to upgrading our technology, the service and support we’ve received from Zomaron has been superb. To be truthful, the whole payment processing system was a big learning curve for us, but Zomaron made it easy—they’ve been there at every step with outstanding customer support.
