Medpoint Health Care Centre set to open new facility in West 5

MEDPOINT HEALTH CARE Centre is set to open its newest executive health and cardiology facility at 1295 Riverbend Road in Sifton’s West 5 development. Within the same complex is the West 5 Fitness Centre, one of several facilities in Medpoint’s Fitness division.

West 5 is the province’s first sustainable, net-zero community, and once fully developed, the 10-year project will encompass 2,000 apartments, condominiums and townhouses, along with 400,000 square feet of commercial space and a 1.6-acre park.

“The community’s commitment to net zero fits in with our whole philosophy,” says Medpoint president, Alex Hanham. “By taking care of our health today, we are also making healthy choices for the future.”

That wisdom was at the heart of the decision made by Hanham and his wife Dr. Sylvia Murchison to create Medpoint in May 2007.

Launched in 2007 by Hanham and his wife, Dr. Sylvia Murchison, Medpoint has expanded to 29 doctors and more than 40 staff at five locations in Southwestern Ontario. “We’re looking to grow by adding another 10 doctors across our facilities within the next year,” Hanham says.

The expansion strategies are part of Medpoint’s vision to become Ontario’s leading health and wellness medical provider, committed to providing timely, preventive and integrated health-care solutions to individuals, executives and organizations through a focus on disease mitigation and healthy lifestyle choices.

Indiva Limited launches new brand identity and packaging

LONDON-BASED INDIVA Limited has released its new brand identity, website and product packaging.

“The new clean aesthetic and pallet are both mature and contemporary, but still classic enough to be lasting. This is the natural evolution of Indiva’s original positioning, which celebrated the grassroots activism of our grower, Pete Young,” say Tomasz Borowicz, Indiva’s chief brand officer, and creator of the new brand and logo.

The original Indiva brand identity was launched in 2015 and, since then, the cannabis industry and Indiva have undergone significant changes. The company is now a fully financed licensed producer listed on the TSX Venture Exchange, with international partnerships and close to 30 employees.

“The logo pays homage to our past and the history of the cannabis legalization movement without retaining the clichés of cannabis counter-culture,” explains Koby Smutylo, Indiva’s chief operating officer. “It is also incredibly versatile and looks great next to our partner brands.”

Firehouse Subs opens third London location

FIREHOUSE SUBS HAS opened its third location in London at 1371 Beaverbrook Avenue. It’s the 15th Canadian franchise for the Florida-based chain, and the fourth unit for local business partners Teresa Cavaliere, Phil Dawson and Bill Carr.

After discovering the subs in the U.S., the trio with a passion for food opened their first franchise (the second Canadian unit) on Wellington Road in 2016.

“The Firehouse Subs brand itself drew us in and kept bringing us back—from the high-quality food to its commitment to serving the local community,” says Dawson.

The chain’s commitment to community involvement is facilitated through its Public Safety Foundation, which provides funding, equipment and educational opportunities to first responders and public safety organizations in North America. Founded in 1994 in Jacksonville, Florida, by two brothers who were then firefighters, there are more than 1,000 Firehouse Subs franchises in the U.S and Canada.

The new London restaurant boasts a custom, hand-painted mural by mural artist Joe Puskas depicting a firefighter memorial, Middlesex-London EMS ambulance and London fire engine.

A Canadian Brewing Award medal is a widely recognized symbol of Canadian brewing excellence.
