A PAIR OF local golf club veterans have teamed up to purchase Greenhills Golf Club, a private golf course in Lambeth, from ClubLink Corporation.

According to LondonOntarioGolf.com, Brian Ublansky, owner of Echo Valley Golf Club in Lambeth, and Brent Holmes, owner of Forest City National Golf Club, are the new Greenhills owners.

“We are excited to formally announce our purchase of Greenhills Golf Club. Our goal is to return Greenhills to a private, members only golf club,” read a posting on the club’s Facebook page.

ClubLink, based in King City and the largest owner and operator of golf courses in Canada, has owned Greenhills since 1999. In recent years, it had been operating the club as a semi-private course, battling it out in a crowded market with declining golfer participation. It’s reported there are approximately 400 members at Greenhills.

“This is a great story about local ownership, and about bringing Greenhills back to its glory days as a friendly private club,” Brad Esler, Greenhills general manager, told LondonOntarioGolf.com, adding that a new Greenhills membership fee of $2,290—with no initiation fee—will also allow members playing privileges at both Echo Valley and Forest City National.

Built in 1975, Greenhills was designed by renowned Canadian golf course architect Renee Muylaert of Strathroy. Before his passing in 2005, Muylaert designed more than 50 Ontario golf courses, including The Oaks Golf and Country Club in Komoka and London’s West Haven Golf and Country Club. London Inc. NORTHERN COMMERCE IS partnering with Fanshawe College to pioneer a new course on Shopify web development, a leading cloud-based, omni-channel commerce platform. The eight-week course will be available for free to second-year Interactive Media Design and Production (IDP) and Interactive Media Specialist (IMS) students.

In the course, students will learn the fundamentals of building high-performing ecommerce websites using Shopify’s all-in-one commerce platform. “Our goal is to ensure Fanshawe is at the academic forefront of the rapid evolution of tech platforms and the skills required to use them,” said Gilberto Murcia, VP Technology at Northern Commerce. “We’re helping these students build not just generalized web development skills, but the career-specific software skills that employers like us are looking for.”

The course aims to give students an immersive and hands-on look at the tools and platforms that are driving the ecommerce industry—like Shopify—before they start their careers. Headquartered and founded in Canada, Shopify powers over one million merchants in more than 175 countries and has generated over $135 billion in total sales since its launch in 2006.

“Our partnership with Northern Commerce is all about bridging the gap between college and our students’ first job,” said Justin Brunner, program coordinator at Fanshawe College. “This course gives students the opportunity to gain real-world experience on top of an accredited diploma.” London Inc.
