Motif Labs commences operations

Motif Labs receives green light from Health Canada, commences operations at its Aylmer facility

THIS PAST FRIDAY, Health Canada officially granted Motif Labs Lt.d a Standard Processing license under the Cannabis Act after an extensive two-year application and vetting process. The company will operate as a contract manufacturing hub, partnering with cannabis and hemp cultivators, as well as third-party brands, to create a range of concentrate-based products. Motif is currently seeing significant demand for bulk oils and vaporizers, and has significant in-house capabilities to fulfill this market need.

As an essential business, the company has spent extensive time designing a robust Covid-19 operation plan to ensure it can successfully launch in a safe and effective manner.

“The health and safety of our team is our number one priority,” says COO, Mario Naric. “We are fortunate to have a world-class site, with ample production space that allows us to operate safely and effectively. Our entire production team is excited to execute and start delivering our clients the high-quality products we have been so excited to produce.”

In addition to the growing medicinal and recreational cannabis markets, Motif’s products (high purity, bulk cannabinoid oils) are in high demand in a number of other industries including pharmaceutical, health and beauty, beverage, food processing and pet care. Within its phase-one footprint of 12,500 square feet, Motif will be capable of processing more than 200,000kg of biomass annually.

The company currently has 11 full-time employees and is actively hiring a number of additional positions. By the end of 2020, Motif expects to employ 30 to 40 people at its site. With active R&D capabilities, the company also plans to quickly expand into other product categories including water soluble oils and cannabinoid isolates.

“Motif Labs will quickly position itself as an industry leader in terms of quality and efficiency,” says Motif CEO, Ian Haase. “We are excited to begin working with our trusted partners, helping to bring their innovative products to market. This incredible milestone could not have been possible without our amazing team, our valuable network of consultants, service providers and mentors, and most of all our fantastic shareholders who have supported our vision for Motif and positioned the company for success and growth.”
