Residential market analysis and a sampling of high- and low-priced listings in London last week

LONDON’S HOMEOWNERS, SELLERS and landlords are winning. First-time homebuyers and those trading up are having a harder time. Renters struggle as vacancies rates are at an all-time low.

But there is another demographic that we often overlook: the hundreds in our community living on the streets and thousands awaiting affordable housing. Solving this problem is one of the most important challenges we face.

Indwell is a charity with a 45-year history of providing affordable housing communities for the most marginalized members of our society―those who struggle with mental illness, physical disabilities and addiction. Indwell’s Woodfield Gate opened a year ago at 356 Dundas Street, offering 67 one-bedroom units. Embassy Commons in Old East Village is starting construction this month, with 72 more units.

The A Team recognizes the need to expand support to those in greater need. To that end, we have pledged $50,000 to Indwell in support of permanent, affordable housing in London.

Realtors solve housing problems for more than 10,000 people each year in our city, and we invite others who have the means to join us in working to solve London’s housing crisis. This is a battle we can win!
