A new Tourism London initiative takes aim at dismal lodging occupancy rates

TOURISM LONDON HAS launched a new initiative aimed at helping a local lodging industry that has been severely impacted by the pandemic.

Called ‘Stay a Little Longer’, the initiative is offering to cover the cost of an additional night at a hotel for guests to the city at properties participating in the program.

Funded through a provincial relief program, the initiative aims to help shore up occupancy rates at local properties, which have been dismal since the outset of the pandemic.

“It is our hope that we can drive some much-needed traffic to each participating hotel and assist in the industry’s recovery efforts this fall,” Cheryl Finn, Tourism London’s general manager, said in a statement. “By saving some money on their hotel rate, we’re hoping guests will spend more in London’s other tourism sectors.”

The program will run until the end of this year and will cover hotel stays between now and January 31, 2021.
