WE ARE EXPERIENCING the inevitable seasonal cooling of listings, but the market continues to boil. That was last week; looking forward we are faced with a deadlocked U.S. election, and forced to consider the implications of a drawn-out count and legal fight.

How will this affect Canada, its economy, its exports, and how we attract investment? I heard an anecdote this week that Americans are flooding Canada in search of escape from Covid and their politics. Of course, this is unlikely due to the closed border, but we may see expats streaming back this year.

Real estate, as an investment, is about security and confidence ― two things we may need more of in the coming weeks.
