Airshow London to bring back its successful drive-in format in 2021

FOLLOWING THE SUCCESS of its first drive-in event, Airshow London has announced it will repeat its physically distant format in 2021.

The 2021 Airshow London will be held over three days from August 27 to 29.

Dubbed “SkyDrive”, the drive-in airshow held this past September was created to adhere to public health safety measures meant to limit the spread of Covid-19.

The sold-out event saw more than 2,500 vehicles parked on the grounds, allowing patrons to watch the planes take to the sky. Each vehicle was assigned a 20- by 25-foot space with spectators allowed to be outside of their vehicle within that perimeter, and guests were allowed to bring their own food and refreshments. There was also roving food vendors and portable washrooms on the grounds.

“After an amazing 2020 event, with incredible and extensive feedback from our fans to continue with the SkyDrive format, we look forward to hosting another drive-in air show in 2021” says Jim Graham, chair of Airshow London. “We are excited to build on this innovative concept and provide our fans with an awesome show.”

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels Demonstration Team will headline the 2021 event, along with the Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 Hornet Demonstration Team. Other performers and aircraft will be announced in the months leading up to the show.

“As an established premier air show in Canada, we look forward to our 2021 event, providing our fans with an unmatched experience,” said Graham. “We can’t wait to host the United States Navy Blue Angels for their only Canadian appearance this season, representing the positive reputation Airshow London is creating within North America.”
