Meet Heenal Rajani, co-founder of Reimagine Co. and one of our 20 Under 40 Class of 2020 recipients
TIRELESSLY INVESTED IN community betterment and environmental awareness, Heenal Rajani and his wife, Kara Rijnen, have taken Reimagine Co. from a pop-up concept to full-blown package-free grocery store dedicated to sustainable living and promoting awareness through workshops, demonstrations and shared learning.
What has been your biggest business achievement?
Opening London’s first package-free grocery store — and the first entirely plant-based, package-free grocery store in the whole of Canada! It’s something new, innovative and exciting in an industry that I don’t know much about going in.
Who has been your biggest influence?
My dad! He taught me the value of hard work, checking your work carefully, always doing my best and treating people with respect, no matter who they are or what the situation is.
What has this pandemic taught you about yourself and your work?
It has taught me — retaught, actually — the power of community and that people are awesome.

What’s next for you, personally or professionally?
Professionally, I want to help Reimagine to grow into its vision — and then I want to give it away. Personally, I hope to travel more and play more once the pandemic passes and it’s safe to do so again.
When you’re not working, what could people find you doing?
Playing with my four kids — being outside, going to the park, waterparks, bike rides, walks, live music, dancing, laughing.
If you weren’t working in your current field, what would you be doing?
I’d like to be hosting and harvesting conversations that matter, or starting some new awesome venture. Or I’d just like to be writing poetry and hanging out with my kids. Interview by Kieran Delamont
