Bringing ag science home

A&L Canada Laboratories launches a new residential lawn and landscape service division to help homeowners achieve healthier lawns

HAVE YOU EVER looked at a professionally maintained lawn and wondered why your front yard looks like a patch of scrubby desert in comparison? You water your lawn religiously, only to see it languish anyways, leaving you to wonder where things went so wrong?

The answer likely lies in the soil’s nutrition.

A&L Canada Laboratories, an agricultural sciences firm based in London, is letting homeowners in on some professional lawncare technologies, launching Verified Lawn and Landscape, an annual nutrition plan for your lawn based on A&L’s soil analysis capabilities.

“A&L has listened to homeowners who have asked for the knowledge and tools to achieve a beautiful, eco-friendly lawn and to use fertilizers correctly and more effectively,” the company says in a press release. “The goal of Verified Lawn and Landscape is twofold ― to increase the accessibility of soil analysis and to promote soil health and ecological best practices at the residential level.”

Verified Lawn and Landscape works when the homeowner sends their ‘Verified Soil Test Kit’ to A&L, which will then perform a professional analysis on the lawn’s soil. From that analysis, a custom soil nutrition plan is drawn up.

“We are looking forward to bringing the science used by farmers to grow crops sustainably to homeowners to enjoy their yards in an eco-friendly and sustainable way” ―Greg Patterson

“A soil test will indicate what your soil needs to produce a strong, healthy landscape. The missing piece, however, is interpretation and ongoing support,” says Lisa Hannam, business development representative at A&L. “This report takes into account all aspects of lawn and landscape care in order to provide an annual plan that goes above and beyond a typical soil report.”

A typical program includes the soil test results, a shopping list of products, a monthly maintenance schedule, product use tips and tricks as well as direct assistance from the A&L Labs staff.

“A&L Canada has launched several new products to support growth and sustainability of the agricultural industry,” says Greg Patterson, CEO and Founder of A&L Canada Laboratories. “We are looking forward to bringing the science used by farmers to grow crops sustainably to homeowners to enjoy their yards in an eco-friendly and sustainable way.”

The soil test kits will go on sale on April 12 and will be available at a variety of landscaping and garden centres around the London region. Kieran Delamont
