City extends downtown free parking, adds more short-term spots

AS PART OF a continued effort to bring visitors back to core-area businesses, the City of London has announced it is extending its free parking initiative ― first launched in July 2020 ― until the end of April.

In addition, the city is continuing to roll out new short-term parking spots to improve access to delivery and pick-up from downtown businesses.

Drivers can park for up to two hours at all municipal on-street parking meters and municipal lots in London’s core, which includes the downtown and Old East Village, by entering promo code B2B20 in the HonkMobile app. Those who don’t have the app can also take advantage of the free parking offer by calling ahead to the city’s parking services office at 519-661-4537.

Six new short-term parking spots have also been added in the downtown for customers and food delivery drivers making quick food and parcel pick-ups from area restaurants and businesses.

These spots are in addition to six other park and pick-up spaces unveiled earlier this month near the Covent Garden Market and Victoria Park.

The new spots can be found on Richmond Street between Dufferin Avenue and Queens Avenue and between King and York streets, also along Dundas Street near Wellington, Richmond, and Talbot streets.

These spots allow customers and delivery drivers to park their vehicle for up to 20 minutes. New signage marking the park and pick-up spots has been installed and vehicles in the spaces would only receive a ticket if they are parked in a manner that impedes traffic or poses a safety risk.
