$579,900 for an executive townhome condo in the heart of downtown

Address: 2-152 Albert Street
Neighbourhood: North Talbot
Agent: Dan Guindon, Re/Max Centre City Realty Inc., Brokerage
Price: $579,900

The Place

A three-bed, two-bath executive townhome condo in the heart of it the city.

The Details

Depending on the estimates used, the nation of Finland has around 2.5 million homes, and around two million of those have saunas installed in the basement. There, sauna is a way of life. But here in equally nordic Canada, saunas have never really caught on with the same fervour; we, apparently, prefer to complain about the cold rather than warm ourselves up.

But this place offers an exception to our frigid ways. Tucked in the downstairs bathroom is a wooden door, behind which is a small, humble sauna — a place to unwind, relax after a workout or warm up on those cold nights. If you’re looking for a selling point, you can start there.

The rest of the condo has plenty going for it, too. One of only 24 units and at under $600,000, it offers a lot in the way of downtown living, while still staying within reach for many buyers. The main living areas feature premium hardwood flooring, and the living area is connected to the outdoor patio area by a set of glass doors. In the kitchen, maple cabinets provide plenty of sturdy storage, while stainless steel appliances and seating at both the dining table — which sits beside a small fireplace — and countertop seating area.

Upstairs, the two bedrooms are great places to retire to at the end of the day. The primary bedroom comes with a four-piece ensuite bathroom with his-and-hers vanity and soaking tub, as well as a walk-in closet for anyone with an ambitious wardrobe. A second bedroom can be used as a bedroom or as a small second-floor studio or office, helped by the natural light coming in through the windows, and there’s also second-floor laundry.

Downstairs you’ll find another bedroom, a small family room area and a bathroom with the aforementioned sauna.

And speaking of the cold, you might like the other cold-weather feature — private access to the parking garage from the basement, and two spots just steps from the unit. If you want to stay warm, you may as well not have to brush the snow off your car, either.
