What’s been your biggest achievement, and why?

Last year was a great year at Orca – amazing growth, and one of our clients awarded us their global logistics partner of the year award. I think I am most proud, though, of the London Small Business of the Year Award presented by the London Chamber of Commerce. It felt like a complete team win, everyone on the team was ecstatic to find out we won. I don’t think I have ever been so proud of our group.

Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your younger self?

‘Tough times don’t last. Tough people do.’ Running a business can be tough on the soul, but the tough times will pass and you will be stronger for them.

How have the last two years changed you and the way you approach your work?

I spent the first few years of this business really focused on growing the business. Over the last two years, my attention, effort and energy expanded to focus more on community involvement. As an entrepreneur, it is easy to get caught up in your business, but some of the most rewarding moments come from involvement in the community.

You’re marooned on a desert island — what’s the one thing you’re bringing with you?

Sunscreen! I burn easily.

What’s the best movie or show you’ve watched this year?

I am a huge Marvel fan and I thought Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was incredible. Also loved that a Western alum — Simu Liu — was the lead. Fantastic movie. Interview by Kieran Delamont
