With back-to-school upon us, it’s a good time to step back from the hurly-burly housing market and celebrate the resilient kids and young adults taking on unprecedented challenges

IT’S THE FIRST day of school. This traditionally marks the end of the summer real estate market, heralding in some of the busiest months of the year.

There will be increased volume after the very slow July and August summer months, but those sales may be tempered by uncertainty. We expect a rate increase by the Bank of Canada later today. And aside from that pending announcement, the market continues to be tepid and at or near the bottom in terms of both price and number of transactions.

Allow us to pause and celebrate the lives of the kids, teens and young adults heading off for a new and hopeful year of education. These children are burdened with enormous challenges in these unprecedented times. They must navigate technology, a pandemic, nervous parents and an education system that tries to teach and protect them at the same time.

Our next generation are incredibly resilient and brave.  We may be the ones doing the teaching, but we can learn so much more by the example they set.
