The Details

Located at 1096 Riverbend Road in London’s sought-after Riverbend Community, the net-zero ready Green Home backs onto historic Warbler Woods and features over 3,400 square feet of finished living space packed with high-end finishes and features.

The Green Home was made possible by the generosity, products, expertise and efforts of over 50 LHBA member firms and the wider homebuilding community, as well as Platinum Partnership support and project management provided by Sifton Properties Limited, and Platinum Partnership support of Centennial Windows & Doors.

The primary mission of the unique Green Home project ― the second of its kind for the LHBA ― is twofold: to showcase the latest in sustainable building products and construction methods, and to raise funds for a worthy community initiative. In this case, the proceeds of the Green Home sale will support Kids Kicking Cancer Canada – Heroes Circle and ongoing LHBA programs and initiatives.

The Kids Kicking Cancer Canada – Heroes Circle program is open to all children with challenging illnesses, and utilizes the teaching of marital arts as therapy, along with mind-body techniques of meditation, breathing, relaxation and visualization to help dramatically lower pain levels.

The Green Build Home is net-zero ready and packed with smart home and energy saving features. But it’s hardly a home that reaches its sustainability goals through austerity: this home is meticulously designed and filled with modern, high-end detailing that will have you living as stylishly as you are sustainably.

The home itself offers 3,400 square feet of living space spread across three floors, including a finished basement. The main floor features rich hardwood flooring, wood detailing and charming archways throughout the house. The main living area features an open-concept design, with a living room, kitchen and dining room all bathed in natural light from the two-storey, floor-to-ceiling windows along the back of the home. The living room centres around a custom gas fireplace and has double-height ceilings to give the room an open, airy feeling.

The kitchen features a large island with bar seating for four, brand new appliances and custom cabinet storage. There’s also a butler’s pantry that features its own sink, more cabinetry, a wine fridge, built-in shelving and a very cool stone backsplash. The dining room features two sets of double doors leading out to the covered patio, and a built-in dry bar tucked in the corner. Rounding out the main floor is a home office at the front of the house, which could also be used as a sitting room if you’re not working from home.

The upper level includes four of the home’s five bedrooms. The primary includes a unique walk-in closet located behind the bed, as well as a gorgeous ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower, soaking tub, opposing vanities featuring copper fixtures and a window for natural light. The other three bedrooms are carpeted, include lots of closet space and are well-lit by large windows.

The basement of this house has been finished and includes a half-bath, additional bedroom (it could also serve as an office, workout room or hobby space).

This home backs onto a protected woodlot with no rear neighbours, giving you a nice slice of nature to look out at from the covered wood deck at the back of the property. In all, it’s a beautifully designed and finished home ― and you can enjoy the knowledge that it’s all helping a charitable cause.
