Claude, the AI chosen by Amazon for the new Alexa

Claude AI is set to deliver Amazon shoppers with even more cutting-edge solutions

AMAZON SHARE PRICES have enjoyed a significant amount of attention in recent times. This is at least partially due to the upcoming release of their Voice assistant. Employing a proprietary type of smart technology known as Claude AI, and developed by the team at Anthropic, Amazon claims that shoppers will be provided with even more cutting-edge solutions. Let’s take a quick look at what makes this new iteration different, and why it might represent a game-changer for the larger CRM community.

The Use of Generative AI

Generative AI can be thought of as the next leap forward in artificial intelligence; particularly when referring to the queries that these systems are able to handle. A quick example can help to explain this point.

Imagine that an individual is searching for information about the latest live dealer games at Spin Casino. Generative AI chatbots will do far more than simply provide a list of potential titles. They will base their responses on previous browsing habits, and even the games that the individual plays the most. Additional information might also include relevant Spin Casino bonuses, newly released titles, and similar recommendations. This offers much more targeted and personalised responses; boasting a human-like quality that was not possible in the past.

Why Not Stick With their Existing Alexa Algorithm?

Amazon Alexa has always been popular with shoppers. This system provides a quick and simple way to perform voice searches, and to find relevant products within a matter of seconds. Alexa is also extremely useful when accessing Amazon via a smartphone; as it offers a hands-free browsing edge.

Still, the team at Amazon found Alexa’s response times to be somewhat slow during recent beta testing phases. It seemed that their proprietary in-house AI technology was not as efficient when compared to third-party platforms such as Claude. It did not take long for engineers to decide that partnering with Claude would reduce in-house costs, and simultaneously enhance end-user satisfaction.

Ethical Concerns

Another leap forward that should benefit the new iteration of Alexa involves what experts have termed “constitutional AI”. The main issue here is that some AI-assisted chatbots would provide biased responses on occasion. Furthermore, concerns have arisen regarding online privacy thanks to GDPR regulations, and new laws including the European AI Act. In other words, developers will have to be extremely careful about how they interact with clients. It is thought that Claude AI already addresses these variables, so compliance is not as much of a worry.

A Major Change?

Although there is little doubt that this new algorithm is highly advanced, Amazon shoppers are not likely to notice many physical changes, and the Alexa branding will remain the same. The only major difference involves quicker, and more accurate, responses when addressing common queries. Either way, this is good news for Amazon as a business, and clients should be pleased with what is in store.
