What would you say is your single biggest business achievement, and why?
I am a big believer in ambitious goal-setting. Throughout my career, I’ve set incrementally more far-reaching and daunting goals, and so far, I’ve amazed myself with achieving them. My first ambitious goal was building 25 homes by age 25; this year, I’m reaching my dreams of building my first net-zero home, building the spring 2025 Dream Lottery Home —and being recognized as one of London’s top 20 Under 40!
“I like to know that every house we build has passed through my hands; it is a small company that I am running but it keeps it personal, which buying a home certainly is”
What about your biggest business obstacle, and how did you face it?
There are two main obstacles I’ve faced in my role — first as a young person among more established peers, and secondly as a woman in a very male-dominated industry. At times, these obstacles have been beneficial, in having many peers offering advice and mentorship to help me succeed. Other times, I have been quickly dismissed and not taken seriously, ignored and had difficulty receiving service in an industry that is largely reliant on building relationships and can be at times a boys’ club. I’ve learned to be both assertive and set expectations for mutual respect in my business relationships.
What’s one unexpected thing you like to tell people about your job?
I like to put my boots on and visit a site nearly every day to assess the progress of each home, perform quality control checks and build relationships with the trades on site. I like to know that every house we build has passed through my hands; it is a small company that I am running but it keeps it personal, which buying a home certainly is.
You’re off on your dream vacation — where are you headed?
I really enjoy a multi-day trek. I currently have my sights set on the Tour de Mont Blanc, hiking through the Alps or Laugavegur Trail in Iceland. Visiting Patagonia for the O Trek is also a bucket list destination.
And finally, what’s your guilty pleasure?
Filling my home with houseplants that I don’t need but always spark joy.
