What would you say is your single biggest business achievement, and why?

Learning over the years how to be a strong leader is what I’m most proud of in my professional life. I’m extremely proud to be leading an exceptional team at BlueStone, where we’ve built a company culture that fosters hard work, open and honest communication, strong relationships and fun. We all enjoy coming to work and strive to grow and challenge each other to be our best selves, which allows us to build success and grow.

“Regardless of what industry you’re in, it’s all about who you work with and how well you work together”

Who or what was your biggest influence as a professional?

My family. I’ve had the privilege of working over the past 14 years with everyone in my immediate, and some of my extended, family. I’ve learned various components of our business from family and have been proud to lead and share my specific knowledge back with them. I enjoy working alongside my brother, Colin, on a daily basis and feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to continue to learn and grow together as a team.

Let’s say you’re marooned on a desert island — what’s the one thing you need with you?

Comfortable lawn chair or beach towel — I love to relax in the sun when not working regardless of the location, however a deserted island is ideal and preferential for me, so it sounds like a perfect vacation.

What’s one unexpected thing you like to tell people about your job?

It’s all about the people. Build a team of professionals that love what they do, are passionate about the goal and curious how we’ll get there. Regardless of what industry you’re in, it’s all about who you work with and how well you work together.

And finally, what’s your guilty pleasure?

Drinking my first cup of coffee in the morning, alone with good music. Interview by Kieran Delamont
