AT THE MARKET at Western Fair District, the role of business development manager is more than a title — it is a commitment to community. In this position, Carole Sceli connects local farmers, food producers and artisans with the people they serve, while also creating opportunities for community groups, artists and not-for-profits to engage directly with market visitors.
“Be an open-minded observer and don’t get attached to your own ideas. The world is always changing and if you look around there is always something new to learn. Be fearless and don’t be afraid of a setback”
“I like to focus on helping shop owners expand business opportunities, fostering collaborations and enhancing the market’s role as a hub for local culture, commerce and community,” she says.
Her approach is firmly rooted in adaptability, viewing challenges as opportunities to innovate and evolve. “I think the challenges we face in any business should be looked at as an opportunity to try something new. Change is hard for small businesses as there is risk, however, if you seek out advice from your peers, customers and trusted partners, every challenge is manageable and provides a path to growth.”
