“Through Green in the City, we are aiming to show Londoners examples of programs or organizations in the region that are taking environmental action, as well as examples of how community leaders in London are taking environmental action in their households and communities,” says Leah Derikx, environmental projects coordinator at London Environmental Network.

“Even during a pandemic, there are ways that we can be mindful of our environmental impacts and make our city more sustainable and just for current and future generations ― and we are trying to show that through Green in the City.”

“Green in the City has special meaning this year. Subject areas and the tremendous list of speakers will provide excellent ideas, perspectives and insights” ―Jay Stanford

The series finale, Covid-19 and a Green Economic Recovery on November 24, features Priyanka Lloyd (executive director of Green Economy Canada), Gaby Kalapos (executive director of Clean Air Partnership), Grand Chief Joel Abram (Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians), and Mike Fabro (manager of sustainability and resiliency at City of London). These speakers will be sharing what strategies, policies and projects should be implemented for a green economic recovery, and how these can be applied in London.

“Green in the City has special meaning this year,” notes Jay Stanford, director, environment, fleet & solid waste at the City of London. “All subject areas and the tremendous list of speakers will provide excellent ideas, perspectives and insights that can be used by London residents, businesses and the city staff as we collectively develop London’s Climate Emergency Action Plan.”
