The Details
We’re staying in Port Stanley again for this week’s listing, and it’s a good one for buyers in the market for an idyllic home that toes the line between home and cottage. With this two-bed, two-bath bungalow, you’re only a short walk from the historic town centre and Port Stanley beaches, and the home has a lot of relaxing and convenient features: a screened-in back deck, a shaded front porch and an impressive detached two-car garage. If you’re in the market for a weekend abode by the lake, it would be a sweet choice ― but it’s a perfectly great house for the off-season, too, and a rare offering on the Port Stanley market.
Renovated down to the studs in 2021, the main living area features a spacious open-concept layout as you enter the home; one of the first things you’ll notice is the spaciousness, thanks in part to the vaulted ceilings adding volume to the room. The whole house has engineered wood flooring and bright finishes, the living space features a cozy gas fireplace with a stone tile surround and wood mantle. The kitchen is anchored by a large central island, and features custom tile backsplash, black stone countertops and upgraded stainless steel appliances ― including a great gas stove.
There are two bedrooms toward the back of the home, one of which could easily be used as a home office or extra living room. The main bedroom has multiple windows, closets and is clad in the same flooring as the rest of the home. The main bathroom has a large, modern walk-in shower with seating, and a sleek black countertop. The second bathroom has a shower-tub combo; both have dark tile flooring.
One of the standout features of this home is the back deck, which has been screened in to create a great space for long summer evenings and the shoulder seasons as well. The back deck looks out over the fenced-in backyard, with garden beds around the perimeter and a storage shed. The expansive (and heated!) detached two-car garage is also a highlight of this listing and would give you more than enough room for project cars, beach toys or an insulated workshop or dedicated hobby space.
As always, though, it’s the location that will sell this house. As the crow flies, it’s just a bit more than a kilometre from Mackie’s, and you’re only a few minutes away from Kettle Creek, making it an ideal listing for downsizers, cottagers or boaters looking for a charming property in a small-town, lakeside environment.
