A CPA AND graduate of the Ivey Business School, Matt Trovato has applied his expertise in financial leadership and strategic planning to roles at Ernst & Young, serving diverse clients in varying industries, and St. Joseph’s Healthcare, London Health Sciences Centre and Huron Health System, where he oversaw the successful integration of governance and operations of two hospitals to a single system, helping to improve patient outcomes and access to healthcare for our entire community. Today, he is driving growth and setting financial direction as CFO at ASICS Apps, a strategic leadership position that combines operational and financial expertise with the fast-paced, innovative environment of the global technology sector.

What is your biggest career achievement so far, or the thing that you’re most proud of?
The work I’m most proud of has always been the work that creates real impact, and I’m especially proud of the difference I made for our local and provincial healthcare system. It can be bureaucratic and isn’t exactly known for moving fast, so helping push real change had me spend a lot of time questioning long-standing practices and finding creative ways to move dollars closer to the front lines to support new equipment, improve staffing and make the system work a little better for the people who rely on it.

What is your biggest career ambition?
I just want to keep making a meaningful impact. I’ve been intentional about choosing work where I can feel that I am making a difference. That began in healthcare, where I worked to improve a system we all rely on. Today, it continues at ASICS Apps and Race Roster, where I get to combine my love of sports with helping to raise millions for charity each year, encouraging healthier lifestyles and building communities around shared goals.
When you’re not working, what are you most passionate about?
For me, it all comes back to family. I love going on adventures with my daughters to find new coffee shops, explore Western’s campus or make up new games around the house. I’m also ‘Coach Dad,’ which is by far my favourite gig. From hockey to soccer and everything in between, I love passing along what I’ve learned and watching them grow.
What’s your favourite spot to eat in the city?
London has always had great restaurants, and it finally feels like the culinary scene is getting the attention it deserves. Pizzeria Madre is our go-to for pizza, and we keep finding our way back to Hunter & Co. That said, most Friday nights end up at a spot chosen by my daughters, usually somewhere with an arcade attached. It doesn’t matter where we eat, it’s being with my wife and kids that makes those meals special.
