LONDON-BASED JONES HEALTHCARE Group, a market leader in advanced packaging and medication dispensing solutions, this week announced the installation of a new, one-of-a-kind Aquaflex LX 2350 label printing and converting press.
The press expands the company’s capacity to produce customized laser pharmacy labels with enhanced speed to market for clients.
“As the number of prescriptions dispensed to patients continues to rise, our pharmacy customers are looking for partners with nearshore manufacturing facilities who can supply laser labels for their prescription packaging with speed and efficiency,” says Stephen MacNeill, senior vice president – pharmacy market, Canada at Jones. “Our new equipment helps us continue to meet demand as a leading supplier within the unique Canadian pharmacy laser label market.”
The press features double-wide printing at 500 feet per minute through a series of five new-generation, high-precision flexo print stations, allowing for a range of colour options and double-sided print capabilities using sustainable water-based inks. With three die stations, the press can produce multiple label configurations with dual web construction including paper and self-adhesive paper.
The press also includes a unique matrix extraction system to allow for continuous production runs, increasing efficiencies and reducing waste.
“With its unique double-wide capacity, the new Aquaflex press helps us produce a larger volume of customized, high-quality laser labels for pharmacy more quickly,” adds David Dembski, Jones senior vice president – cartons & labels. “This is one of multiple equipment investments we are making over the next two years with a focus on enhancing operations and the client experience, while upholding the highest quality outputs for patients and consumers.”
